Trajectories Intern Summer 2019

Link to Technical Presentation

Copernicus is an in-space flight simulation software used by NASA to perform launch window scans and optimize trajectories. Performing scans requires varying the launch date, resulting in perturbations in the trajectory which increases the number of iterations required for Copernicus to find optimal conditions. The goal of this project was to use the celestial relationship between the Earth and Moon to predict the period of their realignment in right ascension, allowing the initial conditions from the nominal trajectory deck to be recreated and used for multiple days throughout the scan.
